What we aim for
Alex is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That is our target, not a certification. We have not claimed conformance, and no outside party has audited Alex against it.
What we have done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard, and the element in focus is always visibly marked.
- Text and background colors are checked against the WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Each page opens with a skip link to its main content and uses ARIA landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer.
- Pages are tested at phone widths as well as on larger screens.
What we know is not finished
- A full screen-reader pass by a person has not yet been completed. Some pages may read out of order or announce controls unclearly.
- Some charts and maps may not yet have a full text alternative. If one stands between you and a figure you need, ask us and we will send the numbers behind it.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on Alex is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us through the contact form. Say which page and what happened. A person at Invest Hamilton County reads every message and will reply, and we will tell you what we can fix and when.
